Sunset in a Bowl was inspired by my fascination with water drop collisions, but with a slightly different approach. Using a macro setup indoors, I carefully timed falling water drops so they collide at the exact moment, freezing the motion with flash.

At the center of the scene is a Christmas ornament placed inside the bowl. With the background lit in a minimal way, the shape of the splash and the dark circle create a graphic image that almost resembles a small eclipse or sunset.
