Why I Use Adaptalux Flexible LED Lights
Lighting is one of the most important parts of my macro photography, and the Adaptalux Studio has become one of the lighting systems I use the most.
The small, flexible LED arms let me place light exactly where I need it, even when working only a few centimetres from my subject. With Bluetooth app control, I can also adjust each light directly from my phone without touching the setup, which is especially useful at higher magnifications.
This gives me precise control over highlights, shadows, texture and depth, which is a big part of how I create the look of my macro images.

I recommend starting with at least three lights. That gives you enough flexibility to create a key light, fill shadows, and add separation or light the background. You can always expand the system later.
I usually carry around five white Adaptalux Lighting Arms, plus a blue and an orange one. I rarely use them all at once, but having extras gives me more flexibility and a backup if needed.
Yes. I also use the amaran Ace 25c when I need more output or a larger light source. For precise macro lighting, I use Adaptalux because the small flexible Lighting Arms let me place light exactly where I want it.
